Conservation works completed on the People of Dover War Memorial

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the remarkable team at Rupert Harris Conservation for their exceptional dedication in restoring the People of Dover War Memorial. Thanks to their attention to detail, the restoration project was successfully completed on May 16, 2023. Our deepest appreciation goes to the team for preserving the memorial’s significance and honoring the memory it represents.

The People of Dover War Memorial stands as a dedicated tribute to those from Dover who lost their lives during the First World War. It was unveiled on November 5, 1924, with Vice-Admiral Sir Roger Keyes officiating the ceremony. Following the Second World War, additional inscriptions were added to honor the fallen from both wars. The memorial sculpture was crafted by Reginald R. Goulden, a Dover-born artist born in 1877.
