Gwasanaeth Sul y Cofio a Gorymdaith Cofeb Ryfel Dover – dydd Sul 12 Tachwedd 2023

Am 11.00am ar ddynion Sul y Cofio Dover, women and children gathered at the People of Dover’s War Memorial to honour the memory of all the service men and women who gave their lives in armed conflicts past and present. dros 50 wreaths were laid during the service, covering the memorial in red poppies, as a token of the Town’s thanks for the sacrifices made to secure our peace and freedom.

The parade of standards, veterans and other organisations marched to the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House where the two minutes silence was observed with Civic Leaders. The wreath laying was led by the Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, The Lord Northbourne, on behalf of His Majesty the King, followed by the Town Mayor of Dover, Y Cynghorydd Susan Jones, the Chairperson of Dover District Council, Cllr Gordon Cowan and Member of Parliament for Dover and Deal Mrs. Natalie Elphicke. Wreaths were then laid by representatives of the uniformed services and veterans associations. Everyone was welcome to pay their tribute including local organisations and the families of the fallen.

Hoffem ddiolch i bawb a fynychodd ein gwasanaeth i gofio’r rhai a fu farw gan gynnwys Cangen Clogwyni Gwyn y Lleng Brydeinig Frenhinol a osododd yr Ardd Goffa ac a gasglodd ar gyfer Apêl y Pabi ym mhob tywydd dros y pythefnos diwethaf.. We are also grateful for the oration by Nick Chatwin Rn(RTD), Parade Marshal Mr Alan Tinker of the Dover and Deal Sea Cadets, Mr John Harknett o'r Royal Green Jackets Association am chwarae'r postyn olaf a'r reveille, Band Lles Glofa Betteshanger a Band Pres Cantium am arwain y gerddoriaeth, y Cludwyr Safonol, and the young people of our Cadet forces who attended and acted as sentries during the service.

The Memorial Service was officiated by the Reverend Catherine Tucker Team Rector for the Dover Town Team Ministry and Flt. Lt. Malcom Sawyer, RAFVR (RTD), Gaplan i'r lleng Brydeinig Frenhinol (Dover).

The service finished with one verse of National Anthem.
