There was a just a little bit more Easter sunshine in Dover as 161 local households nominated by schools and community leaders enjoyed chocolate eggs together with their own favourite treats using supermarket vouchers provided as part of the Council’s Easter project. Following on from a similar successful scheme at Christmas the Council has worked to give a special boost to households including children that would otherwise have “fallen through the net”. Councillors pulled together using their Ward Grant budgets and the Mayor, Councillor Gordon Cowan, stepped in with a pledge from savings in his own civic budgets to find over £2000 to support the project.
Our thanks go to the team at St Radigund’s Community Centre and Debbie Petman of Dover District Council in helping to make this happen.
