Christmas Starts Here in Dover With Lights Switch-On

Christmas is officially just around the corner now as Dover Town Council ushered in the season with their spectacular Christmas Lights Switch-On on Saturday 5 December. Biggin Street to Market Square was alive with stalls, entertainment and holiday cheer. The prevailing winds did not deter people from coming out and joining in the festivities. The indoor market in the former Claire Accessories provided a warm oasis  of activities and craft stalls. From 12:30 to 4:30 there was a packed programme of music and Christmas cheer galore on the main stage area in the Market Square.  The Real reindeer were back this year in the Market Square vicinity and The Newfoundland Splashpals paid an afternoon visit to Market Street with their Christmas Carriages. The climbing wall proved a popular addition to the day and with Santa on hand in his grotto to listen to all the youngster’s requests, the town could not have been more festive. After a full day of happiness and merriment, The Town Mayor of Dover and the Casts of the Dover Theatrical Christmas Pantomimes joined the Dover Community Radio Roadshow to turn on the Christmas illuminations at the stroke of 5,  lighting up the town and marking the start of the holidays.FB_IMG_1449487089238 (3)
