Coronavirus – COVID 19 – Town Council Services

Dover Town council has closed its offices today but services which can safely continue are being provided by staff working remotely. Unfortunately the seafront toilets and kiosk provided by Pebbles CIC for the council will not open as planned on Good Friday.

Dover Town council is waiting for government guidance on how to meet its statutory responsibilities for public meetings in the current situation but all non essential meetings including committees are being cancelled.

The traditional annual public commemorations of the raid on Zeebrugge on 23 April 1918 during the First World War will not be able to take place due to Government restrictions in both the UK and Belgium. The  Town Council will review the situation nearer to the anniversary with a view to remembering the fallen in line with Government advice.

Dover Town council is giving emergency financial support to Dover Foodbank and to children unable to access free lunches at school. It is  in close contact with a network of Dover based organisations co-ordinated by Dover Big Local to help those most at need in this current health crisis. The Mayor, Cllr Gordon Cowan, is providing local leadership and urges people to keep informed via central and local government websites and statements rather than relying on word of mouth or less reliable social media sources.
