Remembering the Fallen Zeebrugge Raid Commemoration – 23 Dubna 1918

The 104^th Výročí Dover Patrol hrdinné a historického náletu na Zeebrugge na Den svatého Jiří 1918 byl připomenut na výroční slavnosti dne 23 Dubna.

At noon, starosta města Dover, Radní Gordon Cowan zazvonil na zvon Zeebrugge. The Bell byl dar díků od krále Belgie uznání oběti Dover spadl.

Reverend Catherine Tucker conducted a service at the People of Dover’s War memorial. A wreath was laid on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen by the Deputy Lieutenant of Kent Mr Bill Fawcus, Councillor Cowan then laid a wreath on behalf of the Town Council and People of Dover followed by representatives of the Armed Forces, the Feestcomite of Zeebrugge, Veteran’s Associations and other Community Groups.

St. George’s Day nájezd na krtka v Zeebrugge byl nejinspirativnější epizodou nedávné britské a belgické historie. Navzdory strašlivé ztráty na životech, Zeebrugge Raid pomohla urychlit konec první světové války.
