Al di sopra 80 sportivi, juniors e dignitari attraversato il canale P&O Ferry Sabato mattina presto, on 10th June 2017, to take part in the 44th annual Dover – Calais Festival of Sport. Le città hanno preso a turno per ospitare il festival, che è vecchio come loro gemellaggio, da 1973. Il concorso era sia cordiale e feroce con oltre 160 participants vying for the Victor Ludorum trophy in the 5 sporting disciplines that took part in the day, Table Tennis, Sea Angling, Basketball, Shooting & Pool. Dover managed to secure the cup for a second year, in un 3 – 2 vittoria.
The Town Mayor of Dover, Cllr Neil Rix said, “It was a very good day and I think everyone involved had a great day out. Siamo stati tutti colpiti dal livello di ospitalità per noi dal popolo di Calais e non vediamo l'ora di tornare l'anno prossimo che l'ospitalità quando vengono a Dover. Dover Town Council hopes to improve the Twinning Festival every year and we will be looking to increase the sporting disciplines taking part in the line up in 2018”.
