Oor 80 sportmanne en -vroue, juniors en hooggeplaastes oor die kanaal deur P&Vroeë O Ferry Saterdag oggend, on 10th June 2017, to take part in the 44th annual Dover – Calais Festival of Sport. Die dorpe is om dit in beurte om die fees aan te bied, wat is so oud soos hul twinning, sedert 1973. Die kompetisie was beide vriendelik en fel met oor 160 participants vying for the Victor Ludorum trophy in the 5 sporting disciplines that took part in the day, Table Tennis, Sea Angling, Basketball, Shooting & Pool. Dover managed to secure the cup for a second year, in a 3 – 2 oorwinning.
The Town Mayor of Dover, Cllr Neil Rix said, “It was a very good day and I think everyone involved had a great day out. Ons was almal beïndruk deur die vlak van gasvryheid wat die mense van Calais aan ons bewys het en ons sien uit daarna om daardie gasvryheid volgende jaar terug te gee wanneer hulle na Dover kom. Dover Town Council hopes to improve the Twinning Festival every year and we will be looking to increase the sporting disciplines taking part in the line up in 2018”.
