Panca commemorativa della seconda guerra mondiale accolta dalla legione britannica reale di Dover White Cliffs

A commemorative bench marking the 70° anniversary of the end of World War II has been installed in sight of the People of Dover’s War Memorial. Il consiglio comunale di Dover ha finanziato l'acquisto e l'installazione. The Council worked in partnership with the Dover White Cliffs Branch of the Royal British Legion to agree the location and Dover District Council gave necessary permissions. The new bench was warmly welcomed by officers of the RBL, Ted Smith (Vice Chairman), Brian Walton (Secretary) and Christine Walton (Tesoriere), when they met the Town Mayor, L'Assessore Chris Precious. “I think it’s absolutely wonderful that you can see the bench near the War Memorial as you drive or walk up the High Street” said Ted Smith.

The special bench was produced by David Ogilvie in Scotland. The Town Council is waiting for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to issue final authorisation for a similar bench commemorating World War I to be installed near to the Zeebrugge Raid Memorial at St James Cemetery.
