ドーバー・ホワイト・クリフス王立英国軍団が歓迎する第二次世界大戦記念ベンチ

A commemorative bench marking the 70 anniversary of the end of World War II has been installed in sight of the People of Dover’s War Memorial. ドーバー市議会が購入と設置に資金を提供した. The Council worked in partnership with the Dover White Cliffs Branch of the Royal British Legion to agree the location and Dover District Council gave necessary permissions. The new bench was warmly welcomed by officers of the RBL, テッド・スミス (Vice Chairman), Brian Walton (Secretary) and Christine Walton (会計), when they met the Town Mayor, Councillor Chris Precious. “I think it’s absolutely wonderful that you can see the bench near the War Memorial as you drive or walk up the High Street” said Ted Smith.

The special bench was produced by David Ogilvie in Scotland. The Town Council is waiting for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to issue final authorisation for a similar bench commemorating World War I to be installed near to the Zeebrugge Raid Memorial at St James Cemetery.
