72% of young people in Dover want access to free cinema
In their recent Dover Youth Survey with 500 secondary school pupils, Future Foundry found out that the most popular activity listed by young people was cinema, with 72% of the participants saying they wanted access to free cinema. In response, Future Foundry are launching their own Film Club to offer free film screenings to young people aged 14 വരെ 19 and help foster a community of movie makers here in the town.
The Future Foundry Film Club will be led by filmmaker and Dover resident, Ed Webb-Ingall, (senior lecturer at the University of Arts, London). Film Club participants are invited to bring their own films and videos – including TikTok videos – to be shown at the club and the first free film screening will be The Movie Makers by Anna Raczynski, looking at intergenerational community filmmaking. The club will be a friendly, supportive space for young filmmakers to discuss, share, collaborate, learn new skills and work on their own films. No experience or skills are needed to attend.
