Volunteer ambassadors work to call out behaviour among other men and boys and promote a culture of equality and respect.

Domestic violence is on the increase in the UK with 6 out of every 7 victims being women and 9 out of every 10 offenders being men. The Town Council joins nearly 100 other public sector organisations supporting White Ribbon and backed up its committment with a budget of up to £1,000 to complete the Accreditation Plan including:

  • Identifying White Ribbon Ambassadors to train and develop the campaign and act as mentors locally
  • Encouraging all at the Town Council to sign the pledge “Never Commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women and girls”
  • Using a clear system to report, assess and deal with incidents of abuse towards women and children and to encourage everyone to report such incidents
  • Displaying appropriate information promoting and raising awareness about respectful relationships and abuse
  • Training and awareness raising events involving the local Community and the Council at all levels
  • Marking the 25th November – United nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and girls which is also White Ribbon Day
