Pada pukul 11.00 pagi hari Ahad 13 November 2016, 98 tahun selepas menandatangani Gencatan Senjata di 1918, Dover remembered all the servicemen and women who gave their lives in the service of their country.
Perarakan piawaian, veterans and other organisations marched to the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House where two minutes silence was observed with Civic Leaders and a large crowd of local people and visitors. The last post was beautifully played by a member of the Brigade of Ghurkhas.
The Memorial Service was conducted by the Honorary Chaplain to the Town Mayor, Reverend Dr John Walker who spoke movingly of those he knew who had borne the high cost of war and conflict. He challenged all those present to pay a part in defeating violence and work for peace and reconciliation.
Thanks go to the P&O Choir and Cantium Brass for leading the singing and the music through the service and wreath laying. Everyone was welcome to pay their respects to the fallen and lay a wreath. The parade then marched back through the town to the Market Square where Councillor Neil Rix, the Right Worshipful Town Mayor of Dover and Speaker of the Confederation of the Cinque Ports took the salute at St. Gereja Mary.
