Comemorare duminică 2016

La 11:0 duminică 13 Noiembrie 2016, 98 ani de la semnarea armistițiului în 1918, Dover remembered all the servicemen and women who gave their lives in the service of their country.

Parada standardelor, veterans and other organisations marched to the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House where two minutes silence was observed with Civic Leaders and a large crowd of local people and visitors. The last post was beautifully played by a member of the Brigade of Ghurkhas.

Serviciul Memorial a fost realizat de capelanul onorific primarului orașului, Reverend Dr John Walker who spoke movingly of those he knew who had borne the high cost of war and conflict. He challenged all those present to pay a part in defeating violence and work for peace and reconciliation.

Thanks go to the P&O Choir and Cantium Brass for leading the singing and the music through the service and wreath laying. Everyone was welcome to pay their respects to the fallen and lay a wreath. The parade then marched back through the town to the Market Square where Councillor Neil Rix, the Right Worshipful Town Mayor of Dover and Speaker of the Confederation of the Cinque Ports took the salute at St. Biserica Maria.
