Tutti al Consiglio comunale di Dover sono stati rattristati dalla notizia della morte dell'ex consigliere George Allt.
George era un membro del Consiglio da 1997 a 2007, e fu sindaco della città 2003-4. Giorgio è ricordato per il suo entusiasmo per il lavoro del Consiglio, his sense of fun and ability to put all who met him at their ease. Under George’s leadership the Council undertook the bulk of the work that saw Maison Dieu House restored and returned to the Town’s ownership. George also promoted and championed the placing of plants and colourful flowers in the Town Centre, a tradition which the Town Council has maintained and which has become such a well-loved feature of Dover in recent years.
