大屠殺陣亡將士紀念日

多佛市長, 議員蘇·瓊斯(Sue Jones)代表多佛(Dover)的人民參加大屠殺年度紀念. 蘇加入了 80 other civic dignitaries from all over Kent to lay a wreath at the Holocaust Memorial Stone in St George’s Church Garden in remembrance of the 6 million men, women and children who died in the genocide.

The theme of this year’s event was “Torn from Home” as victims were forced out of their homes and taken to death camps.

Following the wreath laying service there was a talk by Deal Councillor Ben Bano in Deal Town Hall “Humanity in the face of Evil – Four Women confront the Holocaust”. They included Anne Frank whose diaries are world famous, Simone Weil member of the French resistance who died in Ashford, the nun Edith Stein and author Etty Hillesum both of whom died in Auschwitz.
