Dover vil skinne med et fyrtårn af stjerner, A grant of £1,500 will allow Future Foundry to go ahead with a spectacular lantern procession as the Town’s welcome to the Walk with Amal project. Amal er en 3,5 m høj dukke af et flygtningebarn lavet af dem, der skabte War Horse. She is walking 8000km all the way from the Syrian border to Manchester via Greece, Italien Schweiz, Tyskland, Belgien og Frankrig stopper forfra 70 byer på hendes rute. Her journey will highlight the plight of child refugees, øge bevidstheden og forståelsen i de samfund, hun besøger.

Future Foundry arbejder med skoler og lokalsamfundet at lave 500 lanterner og 6 standards inspired by Syrian designs and pilgrim badges. Dover is a traditional place of pilgrimage and the ancient Pharos lighthouse in the Castle is a symbol of safety and sanctuary for those on a journey. Civic and Special Projects Committee gav tilskuddet til at støtte workshops i Dover, materials and music after hearing a presentation from Future Foundry’s Lisa Oulton who brought along a lantern and a standard for them to see.

Everybody is welcome to take part in the lantern procession at 6.15 -8.30pm on 20th October starting in Pencester Gardens and going through the Town up to the Castle and the Lighting Up at the Pharos.
