Rainbow Flag mostra il supporto per il mese della storia LGBT

Il Consiglio comunale di Dover è orgoglioso di sostenere il mese di storia LGBT 2018 Alzando per la prima volta la bandiera arcobaleno. The flag is an internationally recognised positive symbol for the LGBT community. LGBT History Month highlights Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender history each year together with the history of gay rights and related civil rights movements. The month aims to provide role models and build community. It has been celebrated in the UK since 2005 and is now well established.

A new theme is taken each year and a Schools Pack produced which is linked to the National Curriculum. This year the theme is “Geography: Mapping Our World” looking at how LGBT people are faring across the world and focusing on campaigns that are striving to support those facing abuse and threats of death. The pack and more information can be found at www.lgbthistorymonth.org.uk

The “faces” of LBGT history month with stories to share this year are Kate Marsden , an explorer who was a victim of discrimination in her time; Gilbert Baker, who designed the rainbow flag; Claude McKay, a brilliant poet; and Jan Morris, the famous travel writer.

The Flag will be flown on other days during the month.
