Mayor’s Charity giving to Meningitis Now

Over £2000 has been formally handed to the charity Meningitis Now by the Mayor, Padomnieks Neil Rix. Meningitis Now funds research into the illness and supports families of sufferers. Ben Williams received the cheque on behalf of the Charity in memory of his son Harry. During the year there have been a number of well supported fund raising events for the Charity run by the Mayor – the latest being a tour of the South Foreland lighthouse and the Fan Bay tunnels where the cheque presentation took place. Neil said “Meningitis can come out of the blue and destroy lives so quickly, we want to remember Harry in the best way possible and for there to be a cure for this terrible illness”
