Tower Hamlets Clean Up 2017

Members of the two Tower Hamlets Forums and volunteers took part in the national Keep Britain Tidy Clean Up in the Tower Hamlets ward.

By the end of the two day event nearly 50 bags of rubbish had been collected from two areas of the ward. Including all sorts of interesting articles! Areas cleaned included the area at Northbourne Allotments, the railway bank in Tower Hamlets Road, the area at the back of St Barts Close and adjacent to Morrisons, the bank of the River Dour and many alleyways and communal areas that are not that widely seen and often neglected. Some interesting articles were found!

Morrisons and Tower Hamlets Community Forum member Manda Healy provided refreshments during the day which were much appreciated by the volunteers.

Those taking part enjoyed working as a team and felt they had made a real difference for their community.

This is the second year the cleanup has been organised and now looks as though it will be annual event. Pam Brivio, local ward Councillor said

“We would like to thank those that took part and to thank Dover Town Council, Morrison’s, Doveris rajono taryba, the Curzon Hall and Big Local for supporting the event. In future we would very much like to get schools and other groups involved as there is a real message to get out about how damaging littering is.”
