Fairtrade vierzehn Tage 2019 is 25 February – 10 March – Save the Date

Fairtrade Fortnight will return in 2019 from 25 February to 10 March. It’s one of the most important times of the year to celebrate Fairtrade Achievements, whilst encouraging further commitments from the public, companies and Government to take action for fairer trade.

This year Fairtrade Fortnight will focus on cocoa. Farmers of this iconic Fairtrade product have seen prices crash to crisis levels in the last few years, particularly in West Africa where most cocoa is grown.

To highlight the effects this is having on farmers, particularly women, they will be at the heart of Fairtrade Fortnight and there will be some farmers from the Ivory Coast on a national tour to speak about their situation. It is hoped that someone will be able to talk to us in Kent.

Locally the Fairtrade Group will be meeting shortly to decide on activities during the Fortnight and a programme for the whole year ahead. There will be visits to schools, youth groups and an annual reception/event with an emphasis on cocoa and a possible Bake-Off style competition.
