Dover Partnership Against Crime says “Thank you” to Chairman Mr Graham Tutthill after 16 years of service

Members of Dover Partnership Against Crime said a big thank you and goodbye to Mr Graham Tuthill, their Chairman for the past 16 years at their AGM in the Town Council offices. Mr Tutthill is also an Honorary Freeman of Dover. Members paid tribute to his many hours of voluntary work and skills in helping to build a community that is safe for everyone.

DPAC works as a charity to promote crime prevention and education locally in conjunction with the police, statutory authorities and the community and voluntary sector. Dover Town Council have consistently supported DPAC. The Council is an active member and funded new digital radios used in the town to combat crime with a £10,000 grant in 2015.

Before stepping down, Graham said:

I have had a great time with DPAC since I first joined some 20 years ago and I have enjoyed being chairman for the last 16 年.

DPAC is one of the most innovative and successful crime partnerships in the country, and we are often held up as a prime example of good practice. DPAC is a brilliant organisation because its members are brilliant.

Despite increasingly difficult and frustrating times, you all do everything you can to combat crime and anti-social behaviour in our three towns.

I have always maintained that if we stop people committing minor offences, generally they won’t go on to commit more serious crime.

He thanked all the DPAC members, the board, co-ordinator Karen Griffiths, CCTV operators, PCSOs and police for all their work, and he wished the new chairman, P&O Board member Joe Ciantar, and DPAC well for the future.

Dover Mayor Councillor Gordon Cowan added his thanks to DPAC and Mr Tutthill in particular saying

The work of DPAC is essential in keeping our town a safe and secure place for everyone in our community and visitors. The fact that so much of this work is voluntary speaks volumes about how much Dover people care about each other. Graham’s leadership of DPAC over so many years has been an outstanding contribution to Dover and we are very grateful for his commitment to the town and its people.
