Beach Volleyball Taster Session at the Granville Gardens Sand Arena

Beach Volleyball Taster – Dover Seafront

Sunday 10th August saw the Granville Gardens Sand Arena buzzing with energy for a free beach volleyball taster, hosted by Invicta Volleyball and funded by Dover Town Council.

Aimed at getting more active in Dover. This round saw a a group of 18–30-year-olds trying something new, the session brought 11 players onto the sand, with others relaxing in the new seating nearby to watch the action. The drop-in format meant no booking was needed — just turn up and play for free.

Many were first-time players, but the relaxed atmosphere and supportive coaching kept the games fun for everyone. One spectator summed it up perfectly: “It’s nice to see this in Dover.”

Next up in the works is a Beach Volleyball Demo, so keep up with the latest news on our website and social media channels this demo match will be showing how to progress to intermediate play. Details are being developed for sand arena to be open for volleyball practice during the season, so there’s plenty of opportunity to keep playing.

A very special thank you to local organisation Hipperson for supporting the event via set up of the arena and logistical safety equipment.

Dover Town Council was successful in its latest bid and was awarded funds for beach volleyball coaching from Active Kent. Active kent sports fund and mission is to change and improve lives through sport and physical activity.
