Tommy Mempamerkan Patung Askar Perang Dunia Pertama di Dataran Pasar

Dover, 1st November 2024 – Majlis Perbandaran Dover, dengan kerjasama White Cliffs Branch of the Royal British Legion, unveiled a unique Remembrance display featuring the First World War Soldier installation in Market Square. The statue, created by sculptor Mark Humphreys and locally known as Tommy, has been repurposed from the weather-worn seafront memorial and enhanced with a handmade carpet of silk and crocheted poppies.

As part of the Legion’sThank You 100campaign, the statue honours the centenary of the end of the First World War and symbolises the courage and sacrifice of soldiers who served. This temporary display allows the community to reflect and show gratitude for all those who have fought for Western freedom through the centuries. After Armistice Day, the statue will be moved to Fort Burgoyne, Dover, where it will stand as a lasting memorial overlooking the White Cliffs.
