در 11:00 a.m. on Remembrance Sunday, 9 نوامبر 2025, the people of Dover—men, women, and children—gathered at the People of Dover War Memorial to honour the memory of all servicemen and servicewomen who gave their lives in armed conflicts past and present. Over forty wreaths were laid during the service, covering the memorial in red poppies as a token of the town’s gratitude for the sacrifices made to secure our peace and freedom.
رژه از استانداردهای, veterans, and local organisations marched to the War Memorial in front of Maison Dieu House, where the two minutes’ silence was observed with Civic Leaders. The wreath-laying was led by the Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, آقای جیمز رایلند, از طرف اعلیحضرت پادشاه, به دنبال آن شهردار شهر دوور, شورای ادوارد بیگز, the Leader of Dover District Council, Councillor Kevin Mills, the Member of Parliament for Dover and Deal, مایک تاپ نماینده مجلس, and the Chief Executive of the Port of Dover, Mr Doug Bannister. Wreaths were then laid by representatives of the uniformed services and veterans’ associations. Everyone was welcome to pay their respects, including local organisations and the families of the fallen.
Our thanks go to all those who attended the service of remembrance, including the White Cliffs Branch of the Royal British Legion, who prepared the Garden of Remembrance and collected for the Poppy Appeal in all weathers over the past month. We are also grateful for the oration delivered by Nick Chatwin RN (RTD), the Parade Marshal, Mr Alex Miller, and Mr Alan Tinker of the Dover and Deal Sea Cadets, as well as members of the Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets marching band. Thanks are also extended to M.C. Williams for playing the Last Post and Reveille, the Betteshanger Colliery Welfare Band, Cantium Brass Band, and vocalist Ms Insole for leading the service music, پرچمدار, and the young people of our cadet forces who attended and acted as sentries during the service. The memorial service was officiated by the Reverend Coleman and concluded with one verse of the National Anthem.
The parade then marched back through the town to the Market Square, where the Mayor took the salute outside St Mary’s Church.
