ندوات مجانية عبر الإنترنت لـ KFRS: new fire safety regulations for certain multi-residential buildings
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is hosting two free webinars to help building and business owners understand new fire safety regulations coming into force in April 2026.
Key date
اعتبارا من 6 نيسان 2026, people responsible for specific residential buildings will be legally required to adopt the
Fire Safety (Residential Evacuation Plans) (England) Regulations 2025.
What are these changes for?
The aim of the new requirements is to improve fire safety and the evacuation of residents who would have difficulties leaving their building by themselves in the event of a fire. This may be due to physical mobility, a disability such as sight or hearing impairment, or a cognitive condition.
Which buildings are affected?
- All high-rise multi-residential buildings that are 18 metres or more above ground level or have at least seven storeys.
- All multi-residential buildings أكثر من 11 أمتار in height above ground level (typically five storeys or more) and which have simultaneous evacuation strategies in place.
What responsible persons may need to do
Depending on the type of building, the responsible person may need to:
- Identify residents who require a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP)
- Undertake an assessment
- Create an emergency evacuation plan for each resident
- Inform your fire and rescue service
- Complete a subsequent review
The criteria was formed based on recommendations made following the Grenfell Tower inquiry.
KFRS: support and guidance available
Daniel Noonan, Head of Building Safety at KFRS, said anyone responsible for a building impacted by these changes will have a legal obligation to adhere to the new regulations from 6 نيسان 2026.
KFRS has organised two free webinars to offer help and advice for anyone responsible for premises within the criteria. During these one-hour sessions, KFRS officers will give an overview of what’s expected and guide people through the process.
If you’re a resident and would like to find out if these changes impact you, please check the KFRS website for further advice or speak to the responsible person for your building.
