Installation of The Right Worshipful the Town Mayor of Dover Cllr Bekah Dawes

Dover Town Council marked the beginning of the new civic year with the annual Mayor Making ceremony, held at the Maison Dieu on 18th May 2026.

At the ceremony, Cllr Bekah Dawes was appointed as the new Mayor of Dover, with Cllr Janet Kember appointed as Deputy Mayor.

The Mayor Making ceremony is an important occasion in Dover’s civic calendar, bringing together councillors, guests, community representatives and leaders from local organisations to recognise the role of the Mayor and the continued work of the Town Council in supporting the town.

Following the formal proceedings, guests attended a reception at the Maison Dieu, providing an opportunity to meet the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor, reflect on the year ahead, and celebrate the partnerships that help support Dover’s community life.

Dover Town Council looks forward to working with Cllr Dawes and Cllr Kember during the 2026/27 civic year.
