Dover Winter Light Up (NEW DATE)

Dover Town Council and Future Foundry are sad to announce that Dover’s Winter Light Up will be postponed due to Storm Darragh forecast to reach Dover this weekend. All festivities, activities and the lantern procession which were to be taking place on Saturday 7th of December are on hold until February 8th 2025.

We have been very lucky over the past 4 years to have had perfect conditions for Dover’s Winter Light Up. However with 60mph gusts predicted on Saturday, it will not be possible to run the event safely.

The great news is that Dover’s Winter Light Up has been rescheduled for Saturday the 8th of February. It will be a festival of light when we need it most – at the end of winter just before the first signs of spring. We will be offering all the enchanting activities we had planned for this weekend, with circus performances, cabaret, music, rides, markets, workshops and Future Foundry’s magical lantern procession – all just in time for the start of spring.

In the meantime stay safe during Storm Darragh and we wish you a wonderful festive, winter season.

Le famiglie di Dover e oltre sono invitate a una magica celebrazione al Dover Winter Light Up 2024, che si svolge a Pencester Gardens. Co-organizzato da Consiglio comunale di Dover e futura fonderia, l’evento di quest’anno promette un entusiasmante mix di spettacoli luminosi, attività gratuite, e intrattenimento per tutte le età.

Spettacolo serale e processione delle lanterne (GRATUITO):

Il clou dell’evento è il processione delle lanterne, guidato da Future Foundry, con lanterne stellari e disegni su larga scala ispirati alla fauna selvatica del Kent, creato sia da artisti locali che da scolari. I visitatori possono anche divertirsi abbagliando atti di fuoco, Prestazioni dei LED, spettacoli fosforescenti, e un giro sull'incantevole simulatore Il pupazzo di neve.

In Piazza del mercato, ammirare le splendide decorazioni Albero di Natale, ambientato sullo sfondo iconico del castello di Dover, e il cervi illuminati alla Casa Maison Dieu. Dalle 15:00, Pencester Gardens ospiterà mercati festivi con creazioni uniche di produttori locali, artisti, Il Forge Art Club e le imprese indipendenti. Da non perdere l'esposizione di biciclette decorate del 69MCC Club anche a Pencester Gardens.

Mentre scende la notte, seguire il Sentiero delle Lanterne, che si snoda attraverso Pencester Gardens, Via dei Cannoni, e Biggin Street. Il sentiero presenta creature mitiche (Casa di Dio), La fauna selvatica del Kent (design originali degli organizzatori), e le mini lanterne Sea Life commissionate tramite il Shared Prosperity Fund del Regno Unito. Local businesses are joining the fun by lighting up their shopfronts, adding to the festive glow of the town’s winter lights, provided by Dover Town Council.

Food and Entertainment:

Relax in Pencester Gardens’ food and beverage village, with seating and cabaret-style performances by the Anxious Pickle Club.
